Our pets and our health

Les, my two rescued dogs were waiting eagerly when I got home - we had been gone 8 days over at UCLA so I had a trusted dog sitter with them. They were going crazy when I slowly walked in and they realized almost instantly that something was different with "Mom." I was so tired, I immediately went to bed, crawled in, sat like a lump and eventually slept for 4 hours and my two snuggle bunnies quieted down immediately, the German shorthair pointer got on his floor bed next to me and the Chihuahua-terrier thing was up on the bed, curled up at my side, and we all slept quietly together. They have been my faithful companions throughout. I do not know what I would do wthout dogs in my life.

Hi,Lil,
I feel the same way, I have to have a dog ! I am still grieving my Meggie , her death two days before my bypass was devastating . Her daughter Marissa was beside herself, losing her Mommy and her human mommy leaving , too . She was very excited too, when I came home, and same thing , curled up next to me and went to sleep . Now she is failing too, she has COPD and CHF , she is very ill and fading fast . I have no other pets . The compassion and companionship a dog has is indescribable, isn't it !

Lil and Les,
We also have two dogs, a 13 year old cocker spaniel named Chelsealynn and a 11 year old Llasa Apso/Yorkie mix, name Mosby. They are our dearest friends and companions. They travel everywhere with us, NASCAR races, Florida vacation, etc. I went straight from work to the ER on my lunch hour to the cath lab to surgery. My main reason for being so upset at the hospital was that I was not allowed to go home to see them before my surgery. When I went home five days later, they knew something was different and gently stayed in bed when I did. They also are my walking companions. My cocker has been diagnosed with COPD about a year ago but so far she is doing really well.
Hugs,

Ah, another dog person ! We all know each other so well , and our compassion for them ! My two also had /have COPD , and the one I have left has heart disease too, her heart is huge and pressing against her trachea . My vet said they can live a long time with COPD, and it was something else that ended my Meggie's life, they think a brain tumor . To many more years with your furkids !
